Bird House Auction, September 27th at Southampton Cultural Center

The South Fork Breast Health Coalition’s Bird House Auction will be held from 5:30-8:00 pm on September 27th at the Southampton Cultural Center. There is a $40 donation to attend the cocktail reception and bid on the 75 bird houses donated by artists and celebrities. This year I was invited to include my “British Colonial Birdhouse,” and am delighted to participate in this worthwhile cause.

Upcoming 21 Women: Paintings and Sculpture Show

It is that time of year again when Vito Sisti presents his 21 Women Paintings and Sculpture show at Ashawagh Hall in the Springs of East Hampton. This summer there are 21 of us (19 last year) and the range of art even more exciting. The show will run from June 14-22 and is open from 12-5 pm each day. The opening reception is 5-9 pm on Saturday, June 14 with Mama Lee and Friends providing entertainment. I hope you can join us.

Sally and I decided to focus our featured show on “natural bodies” playing upon her ocean paintings and my smoke-fired and raku body pieces. The show opens on May 29th with a press reception that evening at the Crazy Monkey Gallery in Amagansett. The public opening will be June 7th from 5-7. Hope to see you there.

Springs Improvement Society Show Opening May 23rd, 2008

The annual Springs Improvement Society Show will open with a party and gala on Friday night from 7-9 pm. There will be paintings, photographs, multimedia, and sculpture from the East End with most of the Springs artists participating. The Springs is a stronghold of art with a tradition that began in the 1920’s and then flourished in 1940’s when abstract expressionist painters such as Jackson Pollack move their studios to this relatively (then) inexpensive and secluded area. My piece, Flayed White Woman will be on displayed through the week-end show.

Embodied Show, October 2007

It was a exciting event with over 200 guests and lots of press coverage. It was a new experience curating a show of painting, sculpture and photography all focused on the embodiment in various forms.

19 Women: Paintings and Sculpture Show, June 16-23, 2007

During the same time period as the featured show at the Crazy Monkey Gallery, I participated in Vito Sisti’s 19 Women’s show at Ashwagh Hall. It was a great experience showing with other women and to share the energy of so many people and styles. There was a band at the opening and the potluck closing events. I exhibited women’s bodies for the first time and received many great comments. I sold my “self portrait” (the white picture with breasts seen above), and was invited to join the show next year.
